# How a launch campaign works: timeline, deliverables and what to expect

By Shown Media. Published October 1, 2026.

A launch campaign with Shown Media typically takes 4 to 6 weeks from kickoff to launch. It covers five things: launch positioning, a launch film, an X launch thread, a LinkedIn launch and a creator campaign. Successful launches land between 2 and 10M views, and the attention is a spike that peaks within 48 hours. Parker’s launch, for example, reached 2.54M views in 24 hours. This guide is for founders and marketing leads at tech and AI companies planning a product launch or a funding announcement.

## What is in a launch campaign?

The deliverables listed in our four case studies are close to identical.

- **Launch positioning.** What the launch says and the claim it opens on. Merge has three products, so the positioning work was choosing one of them, Agent Handler, and one message for it.
- **Launch film.** The film sits at the center of the launch. For Slash it was founder-led each time.
- **X launch thread.** The launch post and thread on X, starting with the first line.
- **LinkedIn launch.** A LinkedIn cut of the film with its own post.
- **Creator campaign.** Creators lined up before launch day. Merge’s launch used 15. Slash and Parker ran two-tier influencer campaigns.

The Slash case study describes the structure in one sentence: “a founder-led film at the center, an X launch thread, a LinkedIn cut, and a two-tier influencer layer underneath. Same skeleton every time. Different story inside it.”

## How long does a launch take?

Typically 4 to 6 weeks from kickoff to launch.

1. **Week one** is scripting.
2. **Filming** follows, once everyone is aligned on the script.
3. **Weeks three through six** are storyboarding and post-production, with multiple rounds of revisions until everyone is happy.

We only take on a limited number of clients at a time, so a launch date is worth raising early.

## What happens on launch day?

The post goes live and the platform starts testing it. The Slash case study describes the test on X: the algorithm shows the launch to a few hundred people and studies whether they stop scrolling, watch the video through and comment. A post that passes is pushed to the next tier. One that fails “dies at 300 impressions no matter what was spent on it.”

This is why the creator campaign is timed to launch day. In the Merge launch, 15 creators were released “as a wave instead of a drizzle” and added 866K views, because amplification only compounds while the algorithm is still deciding how far to push the main post.

## What results should you expect?

Our FAQ answers this directly: “Successful launches land between 2–10M views, hundreds of demos booked, and a serious spike in inbound.”

The four case studies give the detail behind that sentence:

- **Merge.** 2M+ views across X and LinkedIn, and 1,300+ comments.
- **WithCoverage.** 1.9M views in one day.
- **Parker.** 2.54M views in 24 hours.
- **Slash.** 7.6M+ views across four launches. The biggest single launch did 2.87M.

Views are not the whole result. The Merge case study says the number that mattered most “never touched a dashboard”: inbound from new and existing customers in the days after, asking about Agent Handler by name. In Parker’s launch, the post itself collected leads. Readers commented “Parker” to get their ads scanned, and every comment was a signup lead.

The size of the result also depends on what is being launched. From the FAQ: “We amplify what’s already there, so the stronger your product and offer, the bigger the upside.”

## Is it just a spike?

“Yes, it’s a spike.” Impressions peak within 48 hours and then drop off. The FAQ’s point is that the mindshare built in that window lasts longer, driving inbound and keeping the company top of mind in its category after launch.

Slash shows what happens when a company launches again. It ran four launches across 2025 and 2026, and “the audience that found Slash through launch one was distribution for launch four.” The most recent launch, accounting automation, did 1.52M views in 24 hours.

## Can anyone guarantee a launch will go viral?

No, and we don’t. “We can’t guarantee it, but we can engineer for it. When your product has real novelty and we position it correctly, the probability of going viral goes up dramatically.”

That sentence names the two conditions. The product needs real novelty, which is the client’s side. The positioning needs to be right, which is where the campaign starts.

## Where does a campaign start?

With the positioning and the bold claim. If you are announcing something in the next 90 days, the first conversation maps your positioning, defines your bold claim and outlines how the launch would be engineered. Once the campaign kicks off, week one is the script.
